FAQ
- Do we own the IP?
Yes, fully. You own the code, the data, and the architecture we build for you. There is no MindK license to renew, no proprietary runtime you’re locked into, and nothing that stops your own team from maintaining or extending the work after we hand it over. We build on standard, documented tooling for exactly this reason.
- Do we have to commit to the whole product lifecycle?
No. Engage in one model only if that’s what your business needs. You expand to others when it serves the business, not before.
- Can we switch models partway through?
Yes. Movement between models is organic, and the same team carries the context forward. You don’t re-onboard a new vendor or lose momentum when the shape of the engagement changes.
- Can we get just an audit, without committing to a full re-engineering?
Yes. You receive an audit report and a roadmap. You decide what happens next, including whether to implement, when, with whom, or not at all.
- Do you sign a BAA, and how is PHI handled in development?
Yes. MindK signs a Business Associate Agreement before any engagement that involves PHI. In development we work against de-identified data wherever the work allows it, so engineers rarely need to touch live PHI at all. Where production access is genuinely required, it runs under least-privilege, logged access rather than open credentials.
- How does AI lower cost compared with other vendors offering the same services?
Our framework, production-tested components, and agentic engineering cut delivery time and long-term maintenance, not quality. Senior engineers stay in control while AI amplifies their judgment, so you get more delivered per sprint and fewer defects from a team that thinks product-wise.
- What if custom development isn't the right call for our situation?
We’ll tell you. If an MVP, a ready-made solution, or a hypothesis test makes more sense than custom development, we say so. Discovery is where we work that decision out with you, because we optimize for your business value rather than our hours.
- Will our data or our patients' PHI be used to train AI models?
No. Your data is not used to train MindK’s models, and it is not used to train the models of the AI providers we build on. We use enterprise API terms that contractually exclude your data from provider training and default to zero data retention, so prompts and outputs aren’t stored on the provider side beyond the request. Where PHI is involved, this is covered by a BAA with both you and the provider.
- What happens to the code, environments, and knowledge if we part ways?
You keep everything. The code is already in your repositories, the infrastructure is defined as code in your accounts, documentation is generated alongside the code in OpenAPI/Swagger. We transfer access, walk your team through the architecture and the agent configurations, and leave you able to run and extend the system without us.
